Bookoos is an online yard sale.   My sister from Florida was telling me about online yard sales. I was happy to find Bookoos in the Indianapolis area which is 40 miles from my home.  I have a tremendous amount Boyds Bears Plush and Resin pieces.  I have been listing some my Boyd’s Bears Collections on Ebay and have found no profit thus far.
I quickly listed 8 items for the Indianapolis residents under the collectibles category.  I can keep my items up on the listing until after the Christmas if necessary.   The benefit of making a profit without shipping is fantastic.

The flash cards are high quality card stock with crystal clear colors.  My grandson has just completed preschool and is entering kindergarten.  We played various games but the favorite of all games was to throw the cards in the air and go on a scavenger hunt to find the A(s) B (s) etc. By throwing the cards in the air the cards landed in both directions revealing the alphabet and the picture it represented. THE LAST BULLY by Suzy Lieberman is another excellent book.  Standing up to bullies is the hardest thing to do by yourself.  By standing collectively and addressing the behavior of the bully, Hugo delivers a powerful message.  Children need to know there is a way to stop the bully.  Not feeling alone while enduring abuse is the greatest gift a child can have.  Knowing someone defends them and encourages their positive attributes is like a breath of fresh air.  Hugo does this through the Anti-Bullying Club


Suzy Liebermann had done it again through her series of Hugo the Star Fish and his friends in a striking colorful book.  This is a timely book with the suicides of grade school children who are bullied and feel there is no other way out.  This book and her series is available at www.amazon.com.

THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS by Suzy Lieberman is another excellent book in a series.  Hugo is looking for something to make him happy forever.  He learns things cannot make people happy it is sharing your heart and talents that make a lasting happiness.  Again, I praise Suzy Liebermann's delivery of the concept of happiness in a colorful book.  I love the series of Hugo the Starfish. When I worked in the school system as a social worker I scoured the world for educational materials that would engage the children with thoughts of how their actions affected others.   This book has delightful colorful images of the ocean. There are so many ways to present this book.  I am thinking this would benefit adult children of alcoholics.   Even the discussion prompts would relate to that group.  Ms. Liebermann has an exceptional ability to relate to youth and adults. My Completed Book of Me in the 1950's

I completed the Big Idea Festival at www.bigpictureclasses.com  We were assigned to complete a book about a decade in your life. I chose the1950's.   It was more time consuming than I anticipated.  I had to find the childhood pictures, which was in the last, I mean last box in the garage that I looked in.  Then I had to glean the Internet for the pictures that related to the list I was making.  I have had so many memories of fun and laughter.  Check the end results.

Coaster by Lorena Bathey

Imagine waiting for your turn to ride the most exciting roller coaster ever. Hearing the screams and the excitement of the exiting passengers. You know you want to ride this coaster and would stand in line for an hour if necessary. Then the worst possible scenario happens, it explodes.

This is one of the best books I have read in my favorite category murder/mystery.  I love Ms. Bathey's descriptions of the scenes and surroundings.  Very concise and not boring with unnecessary details.  There are multiple character stories about how each surviving family deals with death in the aftermath of a horrific tragedy.

Lorena Bathey has a strong female character Detective La Rosa who is human.  She fells anger, frustration and sorrow and even cries.  Her emotions do not get in the way to accomplish the task of finding the person responsible for this cruel and senseless act.

I love the series of Hugo the Starfish. When I worked in the school system as a social worker I scoured the world for educational materials that would engage the children with thoughts of how their actions affected others.   This book has delightful colorful images of the ocean and the islands.  There are so many ways to present this book as a group or one on one. The discussion prompts are excellent.  Ms. Liebermann has an exceptional ability to relate to youth. 

Hugo learns that words can hurt because they pierce his skin with pointed arrows and those were the words he used against another that came back to hurt him. Likewise, when he used kind words they came back to him as kind words.

On the ISLAND OF EMPATHY Hugo learns about the power words can have and the fact that if he has nothing good to say he is better off not to say anything. Words are like arrows, once you let them go you cannot take them back and depending on how you use them they can hurt.

Thrilling book of fantasy.  When a young Boy who has no name discovers a Gryphon and becomes a friend, protector and defender of the mythical creatures.  Boy has a destiny that is unknown to him.  In fact everything is unknown to him.  He has lived with an unloving family, taught by a harsh school master and formed into an individual who has an empathic understanding of people and creatures.

Mr. Denethon is a skilled story teller who captivated me with his writing.  I was riding the gryphon with boy feeling the air blowing in my face hearing the sounds of only the wind.  I was hanging on for dear life as the gryphon was making his dives and maneuvers away from the dragon who was breathing fire upon their bodies and feathers.  I became aware that I was breathing shallow and nearly out of breath and laughed at myself for being so enthralled with the book that reality had been skewed.  There are multiple characters introduced though out the book all working for the end goal.  Defeat the Nomoi rule.
